THE MISSION
To enhance awareness of business, government and civic issues and opportunities through an interactive process and motivate direct involvement in business and community leadership.
- Access to key leaders and decision makers in the Rockford area
- An exclusive introduction to the people and places that make up the very core of our community
- Dynamic and significant interaction with emerging leaders as well as those firmly established in positions of influence in our region and state
- Encouragement and motivation for direct involvement in business and community leadership
These are all integral components of the Leadership Rockford Program (formerly known as CAP), a nine-month program of panel and group discussions, business and community tours, networking, and teamwork.
THE CURRICULUM
Class members meet two or three times a month, typically on Friday from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. Occasional Thursday afternoon sessions and one all-day trip to Springfield, IL & overnight retreat, make up the balance of the program. Each session is designed to give the participant a new and exciting insight into the people and places that make up the very core of the community. A high level of interaction is vital to each session.
The curriculum is reviewed annually by a committee of program alumni and staff to ensure that each aspect of the program is relevant, valuable and inspirational.
Emerging leaders are selected to participate in the Leadership Rockford Program. Whether new to the community, newly promoted within their place of business, or just eager to become more involved in the Rockford area, participants have already displayed a level of leadership. Members of the class represent a wide range of backgrounds: business, government, the professions, social services, the arts, and many others. The diversity of the class forms a dynamic cross-section of varying personal and professional viewpoints and perspectives.
Classes begin in early October with an overnight retreat. The program requires a serious commitment from both participants and their employers or sponsors. In order to graduate from the program, a participant must attend 80 percent of the class sessions.
THE CERTIFICATE
In partnership with Judson University, participants in Leadership Rockford have the opportunity to also earn an academic Certificate in Community Leadership (12 credits). Additional requirements would need to be met, and the cost for certificate is $500. For more information, contact Jennifer Mattingly, Judson University, at 815-399-3500.
TUITION
Tuition for this intensive nine-month program is $950. Tuition covers all expenses for meetings and materials including overnight retreat. The only additional fees assessed will be for optional social events.
