Dear Chamber Member,
As you know, energy prices have increased dramatically in recent years. To help you address this, the Rockford Chamber of Commerce is launching POWERSHARE: an energy co-operative for business.
Large companies routinely shop for the best power rates, but smaller businesses need to ban together to get competitive rates. POWERSHARE is designed to save Chamber members the time and expense of choosing a supplier on their own. By pooling the buying power of commercial customers the Chamber will be able to procure energy at the best available competitive market price. On average, the Chamber expects businesses to save an amount equivalent to one month's electric bill. So, if your monthly bill is $400 you'll save about $400 per year.
The process? Basically, the first step is for companies to officially express interest in participating in the program (this does not lock you in to changing energy suppliers). To do this, fill out the Aggregation Application and Aggregation Agreement forms, submit a copy of two most recent electric bills, and pay a co-op fee. Next, the Rockford Chamber, working with an energy broker, will seek rates from energy companies on behalf of the co-op. THEN, we will present participants with an option to accept the rates or to stay with their current supplier. Click here to read our Frequently Asked Questions document.
Please note - to join the cooperative you will be asked to provide the following:
THE APPLICATION DEADLINE to join the Co-Op is

Sincerely yours,
